Agartala, 24th May 2025:  A pall of shock and sorrow has descended over the Sabroom subdivision of Tripura’s southern district as a chilling confession by the accused in the murder of nine-year-old Ujjhshika Tripura has stunned the community. In a horrifying twist, her elder brother Sohel Tripura has admitted to committing the crime.

Before a magistrate of the Sabroom subdivision administration today, Sohel confessed to murdering his younger sister and proceeded to demonstrate the entire act, leaving those present—including police officials and local dignitaries—visibly shaken.

“The brutality of this incident is beyond imagination,” said Additional Superintendent of Police Suman Majumdar, who was present during the demonstration. Also in attendance were Sabroom Sub-divisional Police Officer Nityananda Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge of Manu Police Station Sanjib Debbarma and other senior police personnel.

Locals in Manubazar and surrounding areas are struggling to come to terms with the horror. “We cannot believe that such cruelty came from within the family. This is a devastating collapse of humanity,” said one neighbor, echoing the sentiments of many.

Authorities are taking swift action in the aftermath. “We have initiated a thorough investigation, and the judicial process will be expedited to ensure justice for the innocent child,” an official from the administration stated.

“The soul of little Ujjhshika deserves peace. We hope her death awakens us all to the dangers of emotional detachment and moral decay,” said a local elder, holding back tears.
