Sansad Khel Spardha 2022’ begins at Agartala; Pratima flags off mega sports event

Agartala, September 10, 2022: The ‘Sansad Khel Spardha – 2022’, a mega sports event has been by the union minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik following the directions of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Swami Vivekananda Maidan here on Saturday.

“The Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed all the MPs to organize sports activities in their own parliamentary constituencies for once in a year. However, I failed to initiate this activity in 2020 and 21 due to COVID pandemic”, said Bhoumik while speaking to reporters at Astabal maidan here.

She said “The multi-disciplinary sports events started in the capital city, followed by Bishalgarh and Sonamura in Sepahijala district, Belonia and Santirbazar in South Tripura district, and Udaipur in Gomati district. Sports activities like football, volleyball and Kabaddi sports activities will be held at mandals, sub-divisions, districts and then state-level within September 15 while the semi-final matches will be completed by September 21. The final matches of Kabbadi and Volleyball will be organized at Astabal and the football at police ground, AD Nagar here.”

The union minister appealed all people to attend these events and said let’s all of us make sports an important part and parcel of life.

Bhoumik, who is an elected MP from the 1-West Tripura Parliamentary constituency organized a ‘Marathon’ on Saturday morning. Education minister Ratanlal Nath, Dronacharya awardee Bisweswar Nandi, Padmashri gymnast Dipa Karmakar, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder Acting President of Tripura Football Association Pranab Sarkar, TTDC chairman Santosh Saha, TCPCR chairman Nilima Ghosh and others was present.
