Santana Chakma meets union secretary in Delhi, seeks enhanced support for OBC students and inclusive development

Agartala, 13th November 2025:   Tripura’s Minister for OBC Welfare, Santana Chakma held a high-level meeting today with the Secretary of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. The discussion focused on expanding scholarship schemes and development initiatives aimed at bridging socio-economic disparities among Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

“In our meeting, I emphasized the urgent need to strengthen both post-matric and pre-matric scholarship support for OBC students pursuing higher education,” said Minister Chakma. “We also deliberated on scaling up various ongoing schemes and finalizing pending developmental plans under the OBC Welfare Department to ensure inclusive growth and equitable opportunities for the community,” she added.

The Minister further stated that she urged the Secretary to extend comprehensive support for the upliftment of OBC communities, particularly in areas of education, empowerment, and access to resources. “The Secretary responded positively and assured prompt consideration and necessary action. I am grateful for his commitment to social welfare and nation-building, especially in empowering marginalized communities,” she added.

Reaffirming her government’s dedication, Chakma said, “Guided by the vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister and the leadership of our Hon’ble Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, we remain fully committed to realizing the goal of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’—building a just and inclusive society where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.”
