Santana visits Unakoti District jail, assures to improved conditions

Agartala: October 07 : Prisons Minister Santana Chakma paid a visit to the Unakoti District Jail in Kailashahar, accompanied by local dignitaries and officials, to assess the conditions and welfare of inmates.

During the visit, Minister Santana Chakma, along with Kailashahar Municipal Council Chairperson Chapla Rani Debrai and SDM Pradip Sarkar, engaged with prisoners individually to understand their concerns and ensure that they are receiving timely meals. In addition to addressing inmate welfare, Minister Chakma noted the deteriorating condition of the old concrete building and assured that a modern replacement is nearing completion in the Jarulatali area of Kailashahar. The new facility, currently at 90% completion, is set to significantly improve living conditions for detainees. Minister Chakma emphasized that the district jail will be swiftly transferred to the new premises, providing inmates with safer and more conducive surroundings for rehabilitation.
