Agartala, September 26, 2022: A section of terminated 10,323 teachers on Monday staged “Bidhan Sabha Abhiyan” starting from in front of Swami Vivekananda Maidan here and proceeded for Tripura Legislative Assembly. But on the way to Assembly, a large force of TSR personnel led by state police stopped them in front of Circuit house through police barricades. A scuffle took place between TSR personnel and terminated teachers.

Speaking to reporters after the scuffle, the sacked teachers claimed that they were marching towards Assembly and raise their voice for a permanent solution, but it is seen that the government is reluctant to initiate any step for them. One of them said “Our families are starving. We have no work, we are indebted to different banks and our properties may be seized any time, where our children will go?”

The terminated teachers have been appealing the government for a permanent solution and we were heading towards the sacred assembly. A large force of police and TSR personnel stopped us at Circuit House area and resorted lathi-charge, fired tear gas and used water cannons against us. The government don’t have any sympathy for us. It seems that the government will leave us to die and let our family also face the dire consequences”, said the protestors.Later, police arrested the retrenched teachers and took them to AD Nagar police ground.
