Security guards launch indefinite strike; demands equal pay

Agartala Jan 09: Raising allegations of inequality in payment of salaries, security guards working at Santirbazar District Hospital went on strike from Monday morning.

The agitators warned to continue agitation until their demands are met by the concerned authorities.“Till September, all security guards were paid equally. But from October everyone is being paid differently”, alleged the security guards.

They further alleged that even after contacting the official of SIS Company that is responsible for payment of their salaries nothing has been done so far.

“Sunil Debbarma, official of SIS Company does not even bothers to pick up our calls when we tried to register our complaint of irregular payment”, said one of the agitating security guards.The protestors further said that in the current month of January too they have faced similar problem of inequal pay for the same job profile.Currently there are three supervisors and 24 security guards in the district hospital.
