Agartala, 8th January 2025 :   The construction of the Sepahijala District Hospital faced interruption as tribal family members from Ramdas Para area of Nonajala Banshtali ADC Village surrounded government officials this afternoon. The Bishramganj Police Station officers were present at the scene to manage the situation.

The tribal families, who have been illegally cultivating rubber on government land for a long time raised several demands including compensation and government jobs. The State Health Department had previously announced the construction of the district hospital, valued at several crores of rupees.

Under the instructions of the Sepahijala District Magistrate, Bishramganj Revenue Circle DCM Souradeep Debnath and other officials visited Ramdas Para to determine the hospital’s location. However, the families who depended on the illegally cultivated lands confronted the officials with their demands.

“The administration will compensate for the rubber trees, but you must vacate the area quickly,” DCM Souradeep Debnath informed the families. This assurance did not satisfy the agitated families, who created obstacles to prevent the hospital construction.
