Agartala, 7th October 2026 : BJP State President and MLA Abhishek Debroy on Wednesday said the party’s nationwide Seva Jyoti Padyatra was aimed at taking the message of development and public service to the grassroots while praying for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long life.
Speaking at a programme in Udaipur, Debroy said the initiative began on September 17 with people lighting lamps across the country as a symbol of blessings, hope and new beginnings. He said the Seva Jyoti Padyatra would carry the development message to villages and strengthen people’s connection with the Prime Minister’s leadership.
Highlighting projects in the Gomati district, Debroy said the proposed ₹100-crore ‘51 Pith’ project would transform the subdivision into a major spiritual and economic hub. He also pointed to the development of the Matabari Tripurasundari Temple under the PRASAD scheme, claiming that daily visitor numbers had increased from around 2,000–2,500 to 10,000–15,000.
He said the increased tourist and pilgrim footfall was creating new economic opportunities for local residents. The Prime Minister’s visit and inauguration at Matabari had also enhanced the temple’s prominence across the country, he added.
Debroy further highlighted the upcoming Ayurvedic college and proposed four-laning of the National Highway between Agartala airport and Matabari. He said work on the Detailed Project Report was underway and expressed confidence that the project would give the region a major infrastructure boost.
He also referred to initiatives such as the expansion of National Highways and the PM-JANMAN programme for tribal communities, saying these projects were giving Tripura a new identity.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said the Seva Jyoti Padyatra was not merely a political or organisational programme but represented public outreach, social welfare, nationalism and service to the people.
He said the nationwide initiative, which began on September 17, would culminate on October 17. Describing Modi’s 25 years of public service as exemplary, Singha Roy said the Prime Minister had worked for the poor, farmers, workers, women, youth and senior citizens through various welfare and development schemes.
“Service” should not remain merely a word but must mean service to the people, which ultimately becomes service to the nation, he said.
Singha Roy also urged people to pray according to their respective faiths for Modi’s good health and long life so that he could continue serving the country.
Debroy and Singha Roy were accompanied by Gomati Zilla Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumder, BJP State Vice-President Ajanta Bhattacharjee, BJP State spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee, Gomati District BJP President Sabita Nag, besides other party leaders, workers and supporters.
