Agartala, July 19, 2023: A six-member delegation from the Student Federation of India (SFI) Tripura state committee met with the Director of the Higher Education department to submit a list of demands related to higher education. The delegation, led by the SFI state secretary Sandipan Deb, and President Suleman Ali, raised various issues concerning students’ rights and opportunities in colleges and universities.
The key demands presented by the SFI delegation include the recruitment of an adequate number of permanent professors in all general degree colleges and universities in the state. They also requested the withdrawal of the fee hike in government colleges and emphasized the need to ensure admission opportunities for all students.
During the meeting, Deb conveyed that the Higher Education department were receptive to the concerns and demands raised by the student representatives. The authorities assured them of swift action on issues related to student admission, stipend increment, teacher recruitment, and installing sanitary napkin vending machines on campuses.
The SFI delegation emphasized the significance of securing admission for all students and urged the authorities to take prompt actions in the areas of concern. They believe that these steps will improve the overall educational environment and opportunities for students in the state.
As the meeting concluded, the student representatives expressed their gratitude for the officials’ understanding and cooperation towards addressing the demands put forth by the SFI. They hope that the implementation of the suggested measures will lead to a more inclusive and conducive educational atmosphere in Tripura.
