Agartala, September 01, 2022: In view of the rising incidents of attempt to rapes and drugs selling and consumption, SFI state committee led by its president Suleman Ali submitted a memorandum of four demands to the SP of West Tripura district Bogati Jagadeeswar Reddy at Police Headquarter premises here.
The two-pages memorandum stated “On August 25 last, Bhulan Ghosh, Khayerpur mandal’s OBC Morcha vice-president entered a house at Briddhanagar area in Ranirbazar and tried to rape a college girl. The victim girl filed an FIR with Ranirbazar police station on the same day. Seven days passed off, but the police did not arrest the accused BJP leader. Rather, the mandal leaders are threatening victim girl’s family to withdraw the case.”
“On the other hand, the four and half year old government gave slogan of ‘Nesha Mukt Tripura’, but the government and its administration failed to control it as the drug trade and addiction of narcotic substances have become widespread. Addiction to drugs by the students’ and youths’ will destroy their future. There is an utmost necessity to control it now, but, it is seen that the ruling party leaders are involved in this trade of narcotic substances. Despite of knowing everything, the police administration is not initiating any stern action against those criminals”, he added.
The four demands are- “BJP leader Babul Ghosh accused raping a college girl in Ranirbazar’s Bridhnagar area should be immediately arrested and punished according to law; another BJP leader Chandan Saha, who was arrested in the case of attempted to rape a minor girl student in Nabagram Higher Secondary School, should be given exemplary punishment; police administration should take strict action against drug trade across the state and increase awareness campaign against drug addiction; and incidents of murders, terrorism, thefts, robberies, rapes, violence against women are constantly happening in the state. The students along with the civil society of the entire state is terrified.”
