Agartala, 19th July 2024:  In a shocking incident just before the three-tier panchayat elections, four shops were burnt to ashes in the Heerachra tea garden market in Kailashahar. The incident occurred on Thursday night, leaving the local community in shock and dismay.

The market, which consisted of five shops side by side, became a target for arsonists who set the shops ablaze. Locals noticed the flames during the night and promptly informed the fire brigade. Firefighters quickly rushed to the scene but could not prevent four shops from being completely engulfed in flames before managing to bring the fire under control. One shop was partially damaged in the incident.

Among the damaged shops was a bicycle shop. The shop owner, who received a distressing phone call late at night informing him about the fire, rushed to the scene. Unfortunately, he found his shop reduced to ashes, with nothing salvageable from the wreckage. He estimates his loss to be between two to two and a half lakh rupees. The distraught owner firmly believes that miscreants are behind the arson attack and has called for a thorough investigation and proper action to be taken against the culprits.
