Agartala, 22nd May 2025:   The sister of martyred BSF jawan Shambhu Lal Satmura has alleged that justice has been denied to her family and her brother’s legacy has been misused by fraud and deception.

Speaking to media personnel here at Agartala Press Club today, Moushumi Satmura made a heartfelt plea to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to intervene in the matter.

“My brother Shambhu Lal was never happy after marrying Mampi Das Satmura. Their relationship brought turmoil to our home, and there were several attempts to trap him in false cases,” she said with emotion.

Shambhu Lal Satmura was martyred in a landmine explosion in Jammu and Kashmir on November 22, 2016. The family hails from Subhash Nagar under East Agartala Police Station. Mousumi claimed that even before her brother’s martyrdom, Mampi Das allegedly aided by Biswanath Das, a relative and former CPIM leader created unrest in the family. “At one point, they even forced my brother to give up our paternal home to her. Though she left the house, she later returned and in October 2016, just a month before my brother’s death, she wrote to him asking for a divorce,” she added.

Mousumi further alleged that after Shambhu Lal’s death, his widow unlawfully obtained his service documents and took advantage of government compensation schemes. “She stole my brother’s job benefits and even his identity to secure a government job,” she said.

She also raised serious allegations against one Sudip Bhattacharjee, whom she accused of threatening her life. “Sudip, who originally came from Bangladesh, has acquired fake Indian documents and now lives with my sister-in-law as her husband. He has threatened to kill me multiple times, both at home and on the street,” she said.

Despite approaching the Airport Police Station and the West Tripura District Superintendent of Police, Moushumi claims no action has been taken. “I went to file a case, but the police refused. Ten days back, I went to the SP office, but still, I have not received justice,” she said, appealing once again for help from the state’s top leadership.
