Six arrested in violent bus attack in Bishramganj following Chief Minister’s directive

Agartala, 11th August 2025:   Acting on the Chief Minister’s directive, Bishramganj police have arrested six individuals in connection with a violent attack and vandalism targeting a passenger bus in Bishramganj Bazaar late Tuesday night.

Based on confidential intelligence, police apprehended the suspects from areas adjacent to Bishramganj Bazaar. The arrests were made swiftly following the incident, which left several innocent passengers shaken and the vehicle severely damaged.

On Monday afternoon, the accused were produced before the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Court under heavy security. The arrested individuals have been identified as: Monikumar Debbarma, Rudra Debbarma, Raju Debbarma, Bimal Debbarma, Amit Debbarma, and Vidyasagar Debbarma.

According to police reports, the six men allegedly launched an unprovoked assault on the bus and its passengers, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

Authorities have not disclosed the motive behind the attack, but sources suggest further investigation is underway to determine whether the incident was premeditated or linked to broader unrest in the region.
