Agartala, 20th December 2024:    Tripura Police detained six Bangladeshi nationals, including two minors, late Thursday night from Subhas Park in Khowai district.

Subir Malakar, Officer-in-Charge of Khowai Police Station, stated, “Acting on a tip-off, we discovered that six Bangladeshi nationals were staying at Roy Guest House near Khowai District Hospital. A team of police personnel promptly reached the location and began questioning them. Their responses were contradictory, and they failed to produce valid identification documents. Following further interrogation at the police station, they admitted to entering India illegally a few days ago and traveling to New Delhi.”

Malakar further revealed that the group had come to Tripura intending to return to Bangladesh.

The detainees were identified as Md Kabir (37), Tania Begum (35), Md Sakib (6), Sahida (5), Mumin (23), and Ayesa Khatun (70).  “We also recovered several fake Indian ID cards from their possession. During questioning, they claimed to have entered India in search of work,” Malakar added.
