Agartala, 14th August 2024:  In a significant demonstration organized by the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha, protestors gathered in front of the Bhanu Ghosh Smriti Bhavan in the capital city on Wednesday, calling for “Quit Corporate India.” This event was scheduled for August 09, was postponed by the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha Tripura State Committee and rescheduled for Wednesday.

The convener of the state committee Pabitra Kar emphasized the historical importance of August 09 stating, “The day of August 09 is very significant for the people of the country. On this day, Mahatma Gandhi gave the call of Quit India against the British.”

Kar criticized the current government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for failing to meet the farmers’ demands. “The government has promised to fulfill other demands including fair price for farmers but has not fulfilled that promise,” he said. “So the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha chose this day to raise the voice Quit Corporate Country, Quit Corporate Agriculture.”

The procession, which wound its way through various routes in the city, aimed to rally farmers to continue pressing for their demands.
