Agartala, 17th August 2025:  The Sonamura Community Health Centre has once again come under public scrutiny as patients and their families allege prolonged absence of doctors in the Emergency department with some reporting wait times exceeding two hours.

Frustrated relatives say the lack of medical attention during critical moments exposes the crumbling state of healthcare services in the region. “We stood helplessly while our patient suffered, waiting for a doctor who never came,” said one family member. The situation has sparked widespread anger among locals, who fear the consequences of delayed treatment in emergencies.

Residents claim the health centre has been grappling with a chronic shortage of doctors for an extended period. Despite repeated complaints, they allege that authorities have failed to implement any lasting solutions. “This isn’t a one-off issue, it’s been going on for months, if not years,” said a local leader.

The deteriorating condition of emergency care has raised pressing questions among the public: If doctors are unavailable during urgent situations, where can ordinary citizens turn for help?
