Agartala, 16th September 2024: As the floodwaters recede in Tripura, a new wave of health concerns has emerged in the affected regions. Residents are grappling with various ailments, particularly waterborne diseases, skin infections, and stomach issues. In response to this pressing need, a health camp was organized on Monday at the community hall of Tel Kajla Gram Panchayat.
The initiative was led by the Sonamura Sub-Divisional Press Club in collaboration with doctors from Tripura Medical College at Hapania aimed to provide essential medical services to the flood-hit population. The camp managed by the local block administration offered free health services and necessary medical supplies to the attendees.
In addition to medical care, the Sonamura Sub-Divisional Press Club distributed milk, biscuits and fruits to the patients, adding a touch of nourishment to the relief efforts. The initiative received commendation from Mohanbhog Block Development Officer Shrikanta Chakraborty, who praised the collaborative effort of the press club and medical college.
President of the Sonamura Sub-Divisional Press Club Biplab Chakraborty explained the timing of the health camp emphasizing the urgent need for medical intervention in the wake of the floods. “With the flood situation subsiding, it is crucial to address the emerging health issues promptly,” he stated.
The camp witnessed a significant turnout, with approximately 300 patients receiving medical attention. The event generated considerable enthusiasm among the local community, reflecting the dire need for such initiatives.
Members of the Sonamura Sub-Division Swapan Chakraborty and Debasish Datta, along with Secretary Abhijit Bardhan, Vice-President Biswajit Laskar, Treasurer Amit Datta and other members of the Press Club. Their presence underscored the collective effort to support the flood-affected residents during this challenging time.
