Agartala, 30th July 2025: In a strong move to uphold the integrity of public service, Muhammad Sajad P., IAS, District Magistrate & Collector of South Tripura, has issued a firm directive to government officers and officials across the district, cautioning them against misbehaviour and discourteous conduct. The warning follows a rise in public complaints about the unprofessional attitude of certain officials in government offices.
In an official order, the District Magistrate noted, “It has come to the notice of the undersigned that in certain offices under South Tripura District, there is a rise in public complaints regarding misbehaviour and lack of courteous conduct by Government Officers/Officials. Such conduct is unbecoming of a government servant and undermines public trust in governance.”
Citing the Tripura State Public Services Guarantee Act, 2014, and the Tripura Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1988, the order emphasized that every government employee is obligated to ensure timely, efficient, and respectful delivery of services. Any act of rudeness, undue delay, or denial of services without justified reason will be treated with utmost seriousness and may lead to disciplinary actions such as warnings, suspensions, or departmental proceedings.
The DM has also encouraged public participation in holding officials accountable. Citizens are invited to report any instance of misconduct or poor service delivery by calling the District Toll-Free Helpline at 1077 or Mobile Number: 6909358819.
“All Heads of Offices are hereby directed to sensitize their staff on appropriate public behaviour, punctuality, and adherence to service standards,” the order read. Additionally, it mandates the maintenance of a Grievance Register in each office, which will be monitored regularly by the Office of the District Magistrate & Collector to ensure timely redressal of public complaints.
This proactive measure aims to restore public confidence in government functioning and reinforce a culture of accountability and professionalism in the district’s administration.
