Agartala, 3rd November 2025: The Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation under the Khowai Zilla Parishad held a review meeting recently at the Zilla Parishad Conference Hall to assess ongoing development initiatives and discuss future strategies for inclusive growth in the district.
The meeting, presided over by Committee Chairperson Ruma Shukla Baidya, was attended by Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Singh Roy (Dutta), Satyendra Chandra Das, and members Soma Debnath, Ranjit Kumar Sarkar, Hari Sankar Pal, among others.
In her address, Baidya emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to uplift the socio-economic conditions of people and build a self-reliant Khowai and Tripura.
During the session, several departmental officials presented progress reports.
A Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) official informed that 60 “Nal Jal Mitras” have been trained to tackle drinking water issues across the district. The Rural Development Department reported that construction of a boundary wall for a warehouse in Khowai subdivision is underway, while plans are in place to build a new passenger shed in Bagan Panchayat.
Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, electrification work has been completed in a newly constructed school building, and the Health Department announced plans for a new sub-centre at Dhalabil Panchayat.
A representative from the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) shared that 5,463 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are active in Khowai district. The block-wise distribution includes Teliamura (1,230 SHGs), Khowai (1,271), Kalyanpur (749), Mungiakami (528), Padmabil (667), and Tulasikhar (1,048).
The meeting concluded with a call to intensify grassroots-level efforts and ensure holistic development through collaboration among departments and local bodies.
