Agartala, November 27: The two-day state-level Kala Utsav, a cultural festival for students of class 9th to 12th, began on Monday at Agartala Town Hall. The event was inaugurated by Deepak Majumder, the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, who praised the initiative as a way to develop the latent talent and creativity of the students of Tripura.
The Kala Utsav, which has been held annually since 2015, is a platform for students to showcase their artistic skills in various categories such as dance, song, drama, painting, sculpture, and more. The participants are selected through a competition at the sub-division level, and the winners of the state-level event will represent Tripura at the national competition.
According to Majumder, the Kala Utsav is in line with the vision of the state and central governments to revamp the education system by giving more importance to art and culture. He said that the education system has undergone radical changes in recent times, and the Kala Utsav is a reflection of that.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by NC Sharma, the Director of Higher Education Department, and other dignitaries. A total of 160 students from different districts of Tripura are participating in the two-day event, which will conclude on Tuesday.
