Agartala, October 29, 2022: Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Saturday inaugurated celebration of state level wildlife week 2022 in the premises of Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary here in presence of PCCF Abhinash Kanphade, Sepahijala DM Viswashree B, SP BJ Reddy, District official Pritam Bhattacharjee and others.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Dev Varma said “The new generation should connect with nature which is very important. Nowadays the new generation is not connected with nature. The new generation is connected with mobile phones most of the time. As humans are created by God, so are animals and birds. Just as humans need to maintain the balance of nature, so do animals.”
He said that if tourism is recognized as the main industry of the state, wildlife must be protected. “Wildlife is not just for business, it is a part of human life. Wild animals have the same rights as human beings in this world. In the culture of India, there are some animals and birds as the bearers of deities. Again, in the case of worship, it is seen that some tree or leaf vine is necessary. Students have to understand and feel things. One has to feel the forest, one has to understand the wild animals are equal to humans.”
Deputy Chief Minister opined that forests and animals are God’s gift. Students from different schools of Vishalgarh subdivision were present in the event.
