STGT aspirant holds protests demanding job, arrested

Agartala: November 22. Tripura Police has arrested hundreds of STGT job aspirants after they staged protest in front of the resident of Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath.

Reportedly, the STGT qualified youths at first went to meet Deputy Chief Minister who is also Finance Minister Jishnu Dev Varma where they came to know that no file has been given by the education minister to the finance department regarding their recruitment.

Later, to seek answers to this situation, the youths reached education minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence.Talking to the reporters, one agitating youths said, “The education minister earlier said that he has given the file for approval to the finance department. But we came to know that the finance department has not received any such file yet”.

“We want to know the truth of our recruitment status from the education minister”, said the agitating youths.They further said, “The ministers are playing with our sentiments and future. We met Finance Minister who sends us to Education Minister and it continues. Despite of assurances from both the state Education Minister and Finance Minister nothing has been done for us till date”.

Fuming in anger over the changed statements of the Education Minister, the agitating youths added, “Many of us have taken loans, sold plots for studying. After lot of efforts we cleared the examination. But when we met the EM today he said that we have to sit for exams again. How many times we have to sit for examinations to get jobs when there are more than 5, 000 posts vacant”?

Meanwhile, a large contingent of police and TSR force was deployed at the agitation spot who tried to vacate the road in front of the Education Minister’s residence.This resulted into a scuffle between the police and agitating students who were dragged from the spot forcefully and taken to AD Nagar Police Line by buses.
