STGT aspirants gheraoes Education minister’s resident demanding immediate recruitment

Agartala: November 01. Graduate teacher aspirants who cleared the selection test in Tripura on Tuesday gheraoed the resident of Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath demanding immediate recruitment at a one time.

More than 100 unemployed youths who have cleared the selection test for graduate teachers across the state today gheraoed the resident of the minister.

Speaking with reporters one of the job aspirants said, “We had demanded that who have cleared test for graduate teachers to recruit everyone at a one time and had met the Education Minister, different officials of the education department and also met with the Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury but so far nothing has happened”.

They also informed that they also met the Finance Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Jihsnu Dev Varma who reportedly assured them to solve the problems.“But when we met Education Minister again he said we have to sit for exams again. We are already damaged. How many times do we have to sit for the same exam? We are frustrated. Last October we have sit for an exam and cleared and demanded to recruit all at the same time. But no assurances came from Education Minister.  We have filed an RTI around 5, 304 posts are lying vacant”, the agitator job aspirants said.

Another agitator said that the students of schools across the state are protest and blocking road demanding teachers but the government is not taking any steps. “At first the education minister has assured us that we will be recruited soon but again he said we have to sit again for the exam which is not acceptable”, he added.Meanwhile, a large contingent of police and TSR force were deployed following which a scuffle between the job aspirants and police took place. However, later all of them were arrested and the police vacated the place.
