Agartala, 25th June 2024: The unemployment movement is gaining momentum with each passing day. Frustrated by the slow pace of the recruitment process following interviews, millions of unemployed individuals in the state are running out of patience. Almost daily, groups of young men and women can be seen protesting in front of various government offices, demanding jobs.
On Tuesday, job seekers gathered in front of the JRBT office to voice their grievances. The protests continued on Tuesday as candidates who had taken the 2022 STGT exam staged a demonstration in front of the TRBT office. Speaking to the media, the 2022 STGT examinees revealed their ongoing frustration. “We sat for the exam in 2022, but the results have not been published yet. We’ve contacted the department multiple times, but we still don’t know when the results will be announced or when the recruitment process will be completed,” said one protestor.
Their demands were clear and urgent: immediate publication of the exam results and simultaneous recruitment of all successful candidates. “We have been left with no choice but to protest. Meeting with the ministers hasn’t yielded any results, so we’re forced to take to the streets,” said another examinee.
The state’s despondent unemployed population sees no other alternative than to protest. Despite seeking appointments with high-ranking officials, their pleas have gone unanswered, leaving them with little choice but to make their voices heard through these demonstrations.
