Agartala, 16th June 2024 : Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Sunday announced that strict action will be taken against power consumers who fail to disclose data on high-power-consuming electric appliances within the next 10 days.
Addressing a press conference, Minister Nath stated that the Electricity Department is committed to providing uninterrupted power service to the state’s consumers.
“Electricity consumers need to be more aware of their usage. The highest electricity consumption in the state is in the Agartala city area. A new call number, 6033132082, has been launched today to address various electricity-related problems for Agartala Circle No. 1 customers quickly. This service will operate alongside the existing 1912 number, providing 24-hour support. Customers in Banmalipur, Baradowali, IGM, Jugendranagar, Pratapgarh, Amtali, Sekerkot, GB, Capitol Complex, and Durjoynagar Electricity Division of Agartala Circle No. 1 will benefit from this,” he said.
During the press conference, the power minister mentioned that although there is no load shedding in the state, occasional power cuts do occur.
Minister Nath noted that the excessive heat this year has led to an increased use of refrigerators and ACs by consumers. “Customers are not informing the Electricity Department about their AC usage. As a result, transformers and other electrical devices are being damaged due to excess power load, leading to power cuts. Therefore, legitimate electricity consumers are requested to obtain permission from the Electricity Department for additional electricity consumption and disclose data on high-power-consuming electric appliances within the next 10 days. Otherwise, necessary action will be taken,” said Minister Nath.
