Agartala, 20th August 2025 : Under the initiative of the Elementary Education Department, state-level kitchen garden advisor Manoj Roy on Wednesday inspected kitchen gardens in six schools under Gandacherra sub-division of Dhalai district.
Roy, accompanied by retired teacher Abdul Haque and teacher Debprasad Bhattacharjee of Bidhan Shishu Udyan Medha Anvesha, visited Gandacherra Class XII School, PM Shri Kabiguru Rabindranath Smriti Vidyabhavan Class XII School, Ramnagar High School, Ananda Mohan Roaja English Medium Class XII School, Ananda Mohan Roaja High School, and Purba Bulangbasa High School.
To encourage student participation, the organisation distributed certificates to those maintaining the gardens, while the department provided saplings of flowers, fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants. “It is heartening to see how these gardens are thriving with the efforts of both students and teachers,” Roy told the media, adding that he has already inspected most higher secondary and high schools across Tripura.
At the request of Gandacherra Class XII School Headmaster Khajendra Tripura, Roy also planted saplings with students during the visit. The program was attended by Inspectors of Schools Thaisha Mog and Brajmohan Murasing.
Roy emphasised that kitchen gardens not only supplement nutrition but also instill environmental awareness among students.
