Agartala, 11th April 2025: Students of Longtharai Valley Government Degree College have locked the institution’s main gate in protest following an administrative lapse that left 12 students unable to sit for their third-semester examination. The incident has escalated tensions on campus, with the principal and staff reportedly confined within the premises.
The controversy stems from the alleged indifference of an assistant professor, who instructed students facing difficulties with the online admit card process to submit their forms offline. Despite complying with the instructions, the students did not receive their admit cards in time for the examination.
When approached, the college principal stated that only students who adhered to the National Education Policy (NEP) guidelines by completing the online process were eligible to take the exam. He further claimed that the issue had been reported to the concerned board and requested two days to resolve the matter. However, the deadline passed without any resolution, prompting the aggrieved students to take action.
The protesting students have vowed to keep the college locked until they are granted permission to retake the examination. The situation remains tense, with no immediate resolution in sight.
