Agartala, 23rd December 2025: The Department of Fisheries, Government of Tripura, organized the 2nd District-Level Fish Festival 2025–26 in North Tripura today. The festival was inaugurated with a colorful ceremony at the ISBT Ground in Kanchanpur today at around 1 pm.
The event was formally opened by ARD, Fisheries and SC Welfare minister Sudhangshu Das, who attended as the chief guest and inaugurator. Aparna Nath, Sabhadhipati of the Uttar Tripura Zilla Parishad, graced the occasion as the special guest.
Other dignitaries present included Shailendra Nath and Swapnarani Das, MDCs of TTAADC; Mamoni Roy, Chairperson of the Agriculture Standing Committee of Uttar Tripura Zilla Parishad; Deepa D. Nair (IFS), Secretary of the Fisheries department; Santosh Das (IAS), Director of Fisheries; Lalringeta Darlong, Additional District Magistrate and Collector of North Tripura; Ashis Biswas, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kanchanpur; along with noted social workers Kajal Das and Birendra Kar.
The program was presided over by Ajanta Kumar Choudhury, Chairman of the BAC of Laljuri RD Block.
The festival’s primary objective is to promote the development of fish farming, raise awareness, and encourage local fishers to expand their activities.
