Agartala: Aug 17. Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Wednesday demanded judicial enquiry over the incident of file theft from the Police Headquarters here in the wee hours of yesterday.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday afternoon, Roy Barman alleged “About 20 to 25 files having the evidence and records of drug and smuggling activities of a few BJP top brasses, corruption inked with TSR recruitment during the tenure of Biplab Kumar Deb and some under investigation cases of corruption registered during the last 4 years. But police curated the story differently under the instruction of the accused BJP leaders.”

“Deb’s group who were involved in the massive corruption became restless, because they know that after six-months, Tripura will have a Congress-led administration and the ‘theft of files’ from police custody was a clear indication,” he added.

On the other hand, Roy Barman expressed his displeasure over the role of the state government for not exhibiting the freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives during the period of India’s independence. “Large amount of funds have been utilized for publicizing faces of Prime Minister, Chief Minister and other cabinet ministers. But nowhere, not a single picture of the freedom fighters were found on those flexes, posters, etc. Even a flag mast pole installed in front of Secretariat and Assembly complex spending Rs 17 lakh. Moreover, on this 75th year of independence, all the flexes and posters hanged throughout the state were published in English and Bengali languages, not a single flex or poster is published in Kokborok language”, he also added.
