BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 29th May 2023 : Former Tripura Minister and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Monday has written a letter to the Chairman of the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) demanding mandatory provision of Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) with knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok to be inducted as eligibility in all exams conducted by TPSC.

Referring an advertisement of recruitment to the post of Agriculture Officer, TAFS, Gr-1, Group-B, Gazetted under the department of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Government of Tripura, Roy Barman said, “I am amused by the fact that the provision of PRTC with knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok has not been provided/published as an eligibility criterion. Surprisingly in your Advt. No. 02/2023 for the post of Veterinary Officer , in the same scale of pay with that of Agriculture Officer, 1 am happy to learn that the TPSC has provided the eligibility of PRTC with knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok”.

He said this gross mistake was brought to the knowledge of the secretary TPSC on January 20 this year by a candidate with an expectation for the wrong to be amended but nothing has yet happened.

“I hope that you would be kind enough to bring in a correction and ensure that the criterion as mentioned in the subject above be made as a mandatory provision in all future exams conducted by TPSC”, the letter of Roy Barman reads.
