Sukla reviews progress of new Minority students’ hostel in Agartala

Agartala, 4th June 2026:  Minority Welfare Minister Sukla Charan Noatia on Thursday inspected the ongoing construction of the new hostel for minority students at Melarmath in Agartala and directed officials to ensure quality construction while expediting the remaining work.

The Minister was accompanied by the Chairman of the Minority Welfare Corporation, the Special Secretary-cum-Director, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD), and other senior officials during the site visit.

Reviewing the progress of the project, Noatia emphasized the importance of maintaining high construction standards and completing the work within the stipulated timeframe. He said the upcoming hostel would provide a safe, supportive, and modern residential environment for students from minority communities, enabling them to pursue their academic aspirations in a conducive atmosphere.

“We reviewed the structural progress of the hostel and instructed the PWD team to maintain strict quality standards while accelerating the remaining work. This facility will offer students a secure and modern living space, helping them focus on their education and future goals,” the Minister said.

Following the inspection of the hostel project, the Minister also visited the Haj Bhavan to assess its existing facilities and discuss possible upgrades to improve services and infrastructure.

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to the welfare of minority communities, Noatia stated, “Our government is firmly committed to creating robust infrastructure, promoting student welfare, and ensuring the holistic development of minority communities across Tripura. These initiatives reflect our dedication to providing better opportunities and support systems for all sections of society.”

The hostel project is expected to significantly benefit students belonging to minority communities by providing improved accommodation facilities and a conducive learning environment in the state capital.
