Agartala, 23rd April 2024:  Narayan Sutradhar, a dismissed teacher, announced that the Supreme Court has scheduled the next hearing for his case on May 17. Sutradhar, who was terminated from his position, highlighted the developments in his legal battle initiated in 2023.

Following Sutradhar’s initial contention filed in the Supreme Court last year, a two-day hearing was conducted. Subsequently, the Supreme Court judge advised the petitioner to pursue the matter in the Tripura High Court. Complying with this directive, Sutradhar filed a case in the Tripura High Court. Notably, 1017 petitioners, representing a portion of the 10,323 dismissed teachers, have collectively appeared before the Supreme Court.

In a press conference held at the Agartala Press Club on Tuesday, Sutradhar emphasized the ongoing struggles faced by thousands of dismissed teachers, with 10,323 cases still pending in the Supreme Court. He urged fellow sacked educators to unite and continue the fight for justice.

Moreover, Sutradhar revealed that the case of the 10,323 dismissed teachers has garnered significant attention, with 1017 applicants lodging their grievances in the Supreme Court—a record number of applicants for a single case. Despite the challenges, these applicants remain steadfast in their pursuit of legal recourse.
