Sushanta calls for massive blood donation to mitigate crisis

Agartala, 13th June 2024:  Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury highlighted a significant shortage of blood donations compared to demand in the state during his speech today. He spoke at a large-scale blood donation camp organized by the 18th Battalion of Agartala Sector, stressing the urgent need to bridge this crucial gap.

“In our state, the supply of blood falls short of the demand,” Minister Chowdhury emphasized, underscoring the necessity for increased blood donations to meet the healthcare needs of the population.

Acknowledging the enduring efforts of Assam Rifles in maintaining peace and security in the region, Chowdhury noted, “Assam Rifles has been a deterrent against terrorism for decades, demonstrating unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s security and regional integrity.”

Highlighting the exemplary dedication and bravery of Assam Rifles soldiers, the Minister added, “Their courage and commitment to duty are exemplary, guiding future generations of soldiers and inspiring them to uphold the highest standards of service and sacrifice.”

A total of 126 volunteer blood donors participated in the blood donation camp which included Assam Rifles and BSF personnel, their family members and civilians.
