Agartala, November 05: In a notable meeting that bridged the worlds of politics, sports, and tourism, Tripura’s Tourism Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, had an engaging encounter with none other than Sourav Ganguly, the celebrated former Indian cricketer and the official Tourism Ambassador for Tripura. The rendezvous took place in Kolkata on a Sunday, just before Chowdhury’s departure to witness an exhilarating cricket match at the hallowed Eden Gardens.

This meeting between Chowdhury and Ganguly held significant importance for Tripura’s tourism prospects. The Tourism Minister took this opportunity to discuss the impending visit to Tripura by the cricketing legend. This visit by Ganguly, who enjoys immense popularity not only as a cricketer but also as a respected figure in the sports and entertainment industry, was expected to significantly boost tourism in the state.

Chowdhury was not alone in this excursion; he was accompanied by a delegation of distinguished personalities. Among them was Sudhangshu Das, the Minister of ARD, as well as Dipak Majumder, the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). Additionally, Abhishek Debroy, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Tripura, and Vikki Prasad, the State Vice-President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), were part of the delegation.

The primary motive behind their presence in Kolkata was to witness the highly anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 match between India and South Africa, scheduled for Sunday afternoon. This thrilling sporting event not only drew avid cricket fans but also offered a unique opportunity to strengthen ties between Tripura and Sourav Ganguly, whose role as Tourism Ambassador held the potential to elevate the state’s tourism industry to new heights.

The meeting between Sushanta Chowdhury and Sourav Ganguly served as a significant step in fostering a collaborative relationship between sports, politics, and tourism, with the goal of promoting Tripura as a prime tourist destination and leveraging the charisma of one of India’s most beloved cricketers.
