Agartala: July 21. Drinking Water & Sanitation minister Sushanta Chowdhury today directed the officials to complete the Jal Jeevan Mission project by December this year.Chowdhury today held a review meeting with the DWS officials at the Pragya Bhawan where he said officials of the DWS department have to work with this goal.

“In this case, the work should be carried forward in coordination with the power corporation. Jal jeevan Mission is one of the 5 public-oriented projects on the priority list of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Work is underway to provide drinking water services in this project across the country. There are about 19 crore families in the country. Among them, drinking water service has been delivered to about 9 crore families”, he said.

In the review meeting, the Minister also said the problems or challenges in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission project should be overcome and the project should be completed within the specified time.

“In order to solve the problem of electricity, the officials of the department have to sit in discussion with the officials of the power department from time to time so that the work of the project can be carried forward quickly. All necessary assistance will be provided from the top level of the department to speed up the work of the project. It should be remembered that drinking water connection should be delivered to almost all families in the state by next December. The implementation of the tender process should also be completed expeditiously. Because the tender process is delayed, the concerned agencies cannot start the project work on time”, he said.

He also laid special emphasis on accelerating the implementation of the project in Dhalai district as an aspirational district. He said that there are drinking water problems in various places in ADC areas as well. A discussion has also been held with the ADC administration for this.
