Agartala Jan 03: Tuesday, a team of district officials lead by CMO south along with State Surveillance Office visited Belonia SDH, Maichara PHC and many houses under Maichara PHC area in view of the recent outbreak of Diarrhoea in these regions.
According to reports, as many as 18 people including women and children fell ill with Diarrhoea like symptoms in several areas under Belonia sub-division in South Tripura district.To confirm the suspection of water borne infection, the team of officials collected water sample from several water sources and sent it for testing.
The team also visited many food shops in Belonia municipality area to collect food sample for testing purpose.
DM South Saju Wahid A also visited Belonia hospital, PHC &water treatment plants with officials & CMO south & SDMO Belonia to inspect the situations.
Talking to the media personnel DM Saju Wahid said, “There is nothing to fear about such diseases being seasonal. We have reports of such cases from different parts of the area”.
“Since the number of patients is higher in the Maichara area, special health teams from Belonia had been sent to the health centre for treatment of the ailing persons”, he added.
On the other hand, according to information from sources, the reason behid the disease could be contamination of potable water supplied in the area.
Besides, the DWS department has been alerted of the situation prevailing in the entire area.
