Agartala: September 16. A suspected thief was lynched to death by a group of people in suspicion of being a thief and police arrested three persons in Jirania.Police sources said that the deceased who could not be identified, yesterday late night knocked at the door of the accused persons.
“To see who had knocked the doors, one person came out of the home. The accused persons alleged that the deceased tried to hit the owner of the home and hearing the hue and cry all the members of the family came out for retaliation. People from the neighborhood also came running to the house and lynched him to death”, police said.
Soon after the incident police rushed to the spot and arrested three persons identified as Nandi Debbarma (38), Bishu Debbarma (58) and Dulal Debbarma (38).
