Swachhata Pakhwada Programme by KVK Sepahijala – 2025

Agartala, 30th December 2025:    Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), organized Swachhata Pakhwada from 16th to 31stDecember 2025 in different villages of Sepahijala district to promote cleanliness, sanitation and environmental awareness.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal, with technical guidance from Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, ATARI Zone-VII, Prof. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU (I) and Prof. Arun Bhai Patel, Dean, College of Fisheries, under the overall supervision of Dr. Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Sepahijala.

The overall programme was headed by Nungleppam Monica, Subject Matter Specialist (Food Processing Engineering), and Pijush Debbarma, Programme Assistant, KVK Sepahijala, Tripura.

Various activities such as awareness programmes on Swachhata, signature campaigns, cleanliness drives in campuses and public places, plantation drives, Swachhata rallies and walkathons, with active participation and leadership of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Latiacherra and Chikoncherra Panchayats, were organized. Quiz competitions for rural youth, awareness on rainwater harvesting, plastic waste shramdaan, waste management, utilization of organic waste, and discouraging the use of single-use plastic were also undertaken. The programme also included the celebration of Kisan Diwas, coordinated by Dr. Utpal Dey and Dr. Joy Kumar Dey.

The Swachhata Pakhwada activities witnessed enthusiastic participation of farmers, rural youth, Panchayati Raj Institution members and local residents, contributing significantly towards strengthening the vision of a clean, green and plastic-free society.
