Swadesh team holds discussion with Tripura’s Handicraft artisans in Agartala

Agartala, 12th May 2025:  Aiming to promote Tripura’s handicraft sector, the “Swadesh” Team of Reliance Retail Limited’s Cultural Center led by Nita Ambani organized a government discussion circle at the Handicraft Service Center in Agartala today.

The event brought together distinguished artisans and weavers from across the state to deliberate on enhancing the marketability of their craft both within India and internationally.

Members of the Swadesh Team including Souvik Mitra, Ravi Ratnam, Raja Gope and Pampa Karmakar, Joint Director of the Handicraft Service Center in Lichubagan (Handicrafts Government of India), engaged in a cellar meeting with artisans.

The discussion focused on assessing the quality of local handicraft products and exploring avenues for expanding their reach.

Several renowned artisans participated in the event including Bhajan Sharma, Kallol Dhar, Anath Bandhu Sutradhar, Abhijit Sutradhar, Prabodh Debnath, Badal Debnath, Subrata Sutradhar, Bijoy Sutradhar, Subrata Das and Shukla Nama. Alongside them, promising artisans from various handloom clusters across Tripura showcased their craft and exchanged ideas on industry growth.

The session highlighted the need for strategic collaborations, quality enhancement, and effective marketing to elevate Tripura’s handicraft industry to a broader audience, ensuring sustainable livelihoods for the artisans.
