Agartala, 3rd January 2026: On the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s 164th birth anniversary, the Kailashahar Municipal Council organized a special discussion circle on January 12. The event sought to reflect on Vivekananda’s timeless message of self-realization and the search for inner divinity.
The keynote address was delivered by Swami Shastrajnanandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Narendrapur, and member of the Governing Body of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission. Distinguished monks including Swami Girijanandaji Maharaj (Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Kailashahar), Swami Premghananandaji Maharaj (Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Sribhumi, Karimganj), and Swami Ganadhishanandaji Maharaj (Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Silchar) were also present. The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address from Swami Girijanandaji Maharaj.
In his discourse, Swami Shastrajnanandaji Maharaj emphasized the central theme of “seeking divinity within”, echoing Swami Vivekananda’s profound teaching: “Every soul is inherently divine.” He explained that divinity is not confined to temples, rituals, or idols, but resides in human consciousness, moral values, and compassion.
He noted that true spiritual growth occurs when individuals rise above greed, hatred, ego, and narrowness, and instead embrace truth, love, and service. According to him, the root of social unrest, violence, and moral decline lies in self-forgetfulness—when people neglect their inner strength and chase external pleasures. Vivekananda’s call, he reminded, was for self-confidence and self-awakening, urging humanity to realize the divine power within.
Swami Shastrajnanandaji further clarified that the “search for divinity” is not limited to meditation or spiritual practice, but must be reflected in everyday life through ethics, discipline, and service to humanity. Acts such as feeding the hungry, standing by the distressed, and remaining steadfast in truth, he said, bring one closer to God.
Addressing the youth, he urged them to cultivate strong character, fearless minds, and lives dedicated to altruism—qualities that embody Vivekananda’s vision of the ideal human being. He concluded that only by living these ideals can the true search for divinity be fulfilled.
The discussion left a deep spiritual resonance among the audience, offering a renewed understanding of Vivekananda’s philosophy. The session ended with an interactive Q&A with students, followed by the distribution of prasad.
