Agartala, 2nd January 2025:   A major fire was narrowly averted, saving several homes and bamboo shops from significant damage. The incident took place in Rabindranagar Ward No. 1, near the Sonamura Steel Food Bridge, under the jurisdiction of Sonamura Police Station.

According to reports, someone set fire to a pile of bamboo stored by a local bamboo shop on the banks of the Gomati River. As the fire began to spread, locals quickly rushed to the scene and attempted to extinguish the flames. When their efforts proved unsuccessful, they alerted the fire department.

Firefighters promptly arrived and managed to bring the fire under control. Although there was minimal damage, the dry season and the presence of nearby bamboo groves and thatched houses raised concerns of a potential large-scale fire. Thanks to the swift action of the fire department, the entire area was saved from a major disaster.
