Swimmer drowns at Rudrasagar

Agartala, 30th July 2025:   A 22-year-old man Nikesh Das drowned in Rudrasagar Lake today while fishing, despite being a skilled swimmer. Das, a resident of Melaghar’s Palpara area reportedly disappeared beneath the water unexpectedly.

Locals alerted the Melaghar Fire Department, which recovered his body with the help of community members and rushed him to the local hospital. Doctors declared him dead upon examination.

Following the incident, Das’s family and police officials from Melaghar Police Station arrived at the hospital. His body has been sent for post-mortem, after which it will be handed over to the family. Police have launched an investigation into the tragedy.
