Agartala, 17th March 2025: Tipra Motha Party founder and Member of the District Council, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, has called for an inquiry into allegations that several schools failed to assist students in understanding their Kok Borok exam questions, which were provided in Bengali during the ongoing board exams.
Addressing the issue in a Facebook live session, Pradyot, who is also the royal scion, revealed that many Indigenous students appearing for their Kok Borok board exams received question papers in Bengali. Since several students could not read Bengali, many were forced to leave their answer sheets blank.
“Last year, it was decided that students could write their answers in English or the Roman script, and invigilators would translate the Bengali questions for those who needed assistance. While many schools followed this, in at least two to three locations, students were not given the required support. This morning, I instructed my MLAs, Twipra Students Federation, and Tipra Indigenous Students Federation to investigate. After reviewing their reports, I found that some schools did not cooperate. I will not remain silent on this issue. Being in an alliance does not mean we will not raise our voices for the people,” Pradyot asserted.
Emphasizing the significance of language, he assured that he would personally speak with Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha to seek a resolution. “Education should not be politicized. There must be a proper inquiry, and we must stay vigilant. Instead of blaming one another, we need to unite. I urge students to raise their voices as well. I have directed my MLAs to bring up this issue in the upcoming assembly session. Our voices must be heard,” he added.
