Agartala, 8th December 2025:  Despite salaries being disbursed to teachers under the Samagra Shiksha scheme across seven districts of Tripura, Sepahijala remains the lone exception. As of today, teachers in the district have yet to receive their monthly pay, sparking anger and protest.

This morning, hundreds of teachers gathered at the office of Joint Director of Education Kanika Debbarma and staged a gherao demanding immediate release of their salaries. The protestors insisted that their dues must be cleared without further delay.

Sepahijala district has a total of 513 teachers under the scheme. According to officials, the monthly salary requirement amounts to Rs 1.6 crore. However, the district education office currently holds only Rs 1 crore, leaving a shortfall of Rs 60 lakh. The state government has reportedly not released the additional funds, resulting in the delay.

Teachers, meanwhile, remain firm in their demand, vowing to continue their agitation until the salaries are paid.
