Agartala, 13th June 2026: A dispute over the tender process has triggered fresh political tension between the ruling BJP and its alliance partner Tipra Motha in the rural and hilly areas of the state. The Sub-Zonal office at Manughat has emerged as the latest centre of confrontation, with allegations of irregularities and political interference surrounding the tender process.
The BJP has alleged that although tenders were invited by the Sub-ZDO office, the process was not being carried out in a fair and transparent manner. Party workers claimed that government officials were favouring a particular group, leading to doubts over the credibility of the process.
According to BJP workers, when they reached the Zonal office at the designated time to collect tender forms, they were allegedly stopped by Tipra Motha activists from entering the office premises or receiving the forms. The situation reportedly led to a heated exchange between supporters of both sides, creating tension in the area.
The BJP workers informed the officer-in-charge about the incident and demanded immediate intervention. However, they alleged that despite repeated appeals, no effective action was taken and the administration remained a silent observer during the confrontation.
Demanding transparency, the BJP workers have called for cancellation of the ongoing tender process and initiation of a fresh tender after a proper review. They have also sought an impartial inquiry into the incident and questioned the role of the concerned officer.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked discussions across political circles. With both BJP and Tipra Motha maintaining their respective positions, attention is now focused on the administration’s next steps in resolving the dispute.
