Tense night at Amtali as violence erupts during arbitration meeting

Agartala  23rd July 2026:   Tension gripped Kanchanmala Muslim Para under Amtali police station on Wednesday night following a violent incident during a scheduled arbitration meeting over a theft dispute.

According to local sources, the meeting was called to resolve a theft case. However, under the pretext of the gathering, a group of youths — identified as Suman Mia, Saddam Mia, Akkas Mia, Kamal Mia, and Sayan Mia — allegedly launched an attack on several residents, including women.

During the assault, a young man named Yunus Mia was seriously injured. Witnesses reported that the attackers attempted to molest women, tore their clothes, and physically pushed them.

As news of the incident spread, residents of the para united in protest, prompting the accused to flee into nearby forested areas. The situation quickly escalated, and locals informed Amtali police. A large contingent of police and security forces rushed to the scene, but the accused had already absconded.

Later, family members of the accused allegedly hurled abuses at residents, further inflaming tensions. Additional security forces were called in to restore order.

As of the time of reporting, the atmosphere in Kanchanmala Muslim Para remains tense, with police maintaining a heavy presence to prevent further unrest.
