Agartala, 25th June 2025:  A tense situation took place at the historic Kalibari temple on Amavasya evening when three youths from Sribhumi, Assam allegedly disrupted the ritual proceedings triggering outrage among devotees.

According to sources, the trio identified as Rajesh Bhattacharya, Dipayan Chakraborty and Abhijit Das, reportedly heckled temple priest Sanjib Bhattacharya and his associate during the sacred Anjali by hurling abuses and issuing death threats. The incident, which deeply offended the religious community, was swiftly contained as local devotees and the temple committee detained the accused and handed them over to Dharmanagar police.

“This is the first time in 30 years I’ve witnessed such disrespect at the altar of Maa Kali,” said Bhattacharya, visibly shaken. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with local leaders urging authorities to ensure such breaches of religious sanctity are not repeated.
