Agartala, 19th February 2026:    Anger has erupted among 19 evicted families in South Joypur after allegations surfaced that water was deliberately released onto the land where they had taken temporary shelter. The families, who have long been demanding rehabilitation, claim the move was intended to worsen their plight.

According to local accounts, the families have repeatedly approached the government since their eviction, submitting written appeals for permanent housing. However, they allege that no effective action has yet been taken by the administration. Left with no choice, the families staged protests and eventually occupied a vacant government plot in the area yesterday to build makeshift shelters.

Their situation took a new turn when water was reportedly released onto the land, leaving them in extreme uncertainty. The families say the incident has disrupted their daily lives and made living conditions unbearable.

The development has sparked tension in the locality. The affected families are now demanding immediate government intervention and permanent rehabilitation to end their ongoing hardship.
