Agartala, 11th March 2026: The 29th meeting of the State Advisory Committee (SAC) of the Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission was held today at the Commission’s Conference Room in Agartala. The meeting was chaired by Hemant Verma, Chairperson of TERC, in his capacity as Ex-Officio Chairperson of the SAC.
The SAC, a consultative body comprising representatives from the Government of Tripura, industry, consumer groups, regulatory authorities, media, academia, and NGOs, provides recommendations on electricity sector matters, including tariff determination, consumer protection, and overall sector development. A total of 18 members participated in the meeting and shared their views on the agenda items.
During the session, the Commission presented the Multi Year Tariff (MYT) Petition for FY 2025–26 to FY 2026–27 along with the truing-up for FY 2024–25 filed by Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited. Members discussed electricity tariffs, service quality, and consumer interests as part of the consultative process to ensure transparency and stakeholder participation.
The Commission also announced that a Public Hearing on the tariff petition will be held on 18 March 2026 at the TERC office, providing an opportunity for consumers and stakeholders to offer their suggestions before the final tariff decision.
In addition to tariff issues, the Committee reviewed two draft regulations: the Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions of Consultants) Regulations, 2005 (First Amendment), 2026, aimed at streamlining the engagement of consultants, and the Draft TERC (Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Officers and Employees) Regulations, 2026, which seeks to update the recruitment and service framework for the Commission’s staff.
The meeting underscored the Commission’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and inclusive stakeholder participation in Tripura’s electricity sector.
