Agartala, 10th October 2025 : A disturbing incident has sparked outrage across Tripura’s engineering community after Er. Ranajoy Debbarma, Executive Engineer of PWD (WR) Kailashahar Division and a member of the Tipra Engineers’ Society of Tripura (TEST), was allegedly assaulted at his residence in Kailashahar late last night.
According to initial reports, a group of 10–12 unidentified individuals—believed to be associated with the work implementation agency—forcefully entered Debbarma’s home and physically attacked him over delays in processing a payment bill. The attackers reportedly snatched his mobile phones and spectacles, inflicting injuries that left him in severe physical and mental distress.
Sources indicate that the delay stemmed from the unavailability of FDR funds related to a project under FDR Himangshu Das in Fatikroy. Officials clarified that government bills follow a departmental procedure that can take time, and any form of coercion or violence against public servants is unacceptable.
The Tipra Engineers’ Society of Tripura has strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “heinous act of barbarism” that threatens the peace and dignity of professionals serving the public. TEST has demanded the immediate arrest of all individuals involved and urged the administration to take decisive legal action.
“This kind of intimidation against engineers performing their duties is intolerable in a civilized society,” the society stated. Members of the engineering fraternity have echoed the call for justice, emphasizing the need to ensure safety and respect for all professionals engaged in public service.
